I used to travel alot between Kashgar and Urumqi, I always took bus and it took 24 hours at avarage, taking bus is more convenient than taking train and is more economical, if you can afford ,it is a flight about an hour and a half, but bus passes through a few major cities and quite a few small towns, you will enjoy seeing those I bet but not the toilet, sometimes even the bus stops at a place where there is no toilet, people call that the big nature, as long as you don't do it against the wind you are safe, a cheap trip has its advantages and disadvantages as well....
